Over 600 people attend Donegal Sinn Féin Election Rally in Letterkenny
At a packed election rally in the Clanree Hotel on Sunday Night, Donegal Sinn Féin election candidates Pearse Doherty and Pádraig MacLochlainn, along with party President Mary Lou McDonald, addressed a packed rally and told of the growing desire for change across the state.
Speaking at the rally, Pádraig MacLochlainn said:
“Health services in Donegal have been decimated under previous governments. One in four beds and four in ten nurses have been taken out of our community hospitals. Almost 17,000 patients are on the outpatient waiting list at Letterkenny University Hospital. Donegal deserves better. We deserve to have our fair share of investment and to have a properly functioning health service.”
Pearse Doherty said:
“For too long the people of Donegal have been ignored by those in Government. Living in Donegal should not mean that you are more likely to have lower wages; to have poorer health outcomes; to be unemployed but unfortunately that is the reality. Sinn Féin will make sure that Donegal is no longer the forgotten county. By electing two Sinn Féin TDs for this county you are electing the strongest possible voice for Donegal.”
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said:
“The other parties have had their chance. They have ruled this state for almost 100 years. They have failed you. All across this state people are calling out for change – we are hearing it loud and clear on the doorsteps. Sinn Féin can and will deliver that change if we are given the opportunity to do so. We will not let you down and we will stand up for Donegal.
“Give us a chance and judge us on what we deliver. I’m asking the people of Donegal to return two Sinn Féin TDs to deliver the change this county so desperately needs. Donegal deserves better, and Pádraig and Pearse are the men to deliver for you. Come out and vote on February 8th, vote for change, votáil Sinn Féin.” ENDS/CRIOCH
